Designed by Matt Clark, this custom mountain retreat was created as a family getaway in a remote forest setting near Durango, Colorado. Inspired by the classic A-frame, the home reimagines the form with a modern architectural language and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

The challenging site called for a highly customized approach, including oversized custom windows, steel railings, waterfall countertops, and locally sourced materials. From the overall shape to the smallest details, the design and build process was shaped by the unique conditions of the site, resulting in a modern retreat that feels both grounded and distinctly its own.
